Our client is a component supplier to the energy transition market and are aiding the evolution of key clients into the renewables space. The organisation in question has a long-standing history in the region. They have low attrition rates and the majority of those who work for the organisation have long service awards. This is a high-tech facility with the business employing around 200 staff.

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Weld Section Manager on a permanent contract based in the Teesside area.
The successful applicant will be joining a company that has a world class manufacturing capability, and a skilled workforce with a long history and global recognition. It is essential to the business that all welding operations be performed to the highest possible standard of quality. Alongside the Welding Engineer, you will help manage production welding to ensure this is achieved and that business delivers world class welding operations, by continuous improvement.
THE ROLE
Manage daily welding operations to deliver Manufacturing on mill targets
Management of storage & use of welding consumables - flux quality & usage.
Undertake macro failure analysis and investigation as required.
Support & develop team leaders operationally.
Prepare and deliver welding trials to improve pipe mill quality & productivity.
Implement activities to achieve improvements, searching for best practice solutions.
Monitor safe production welding operations ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and compliance.
Assist the Welding Engineer in developing welding procedure improvements
Manage & coordinate welder/welder operator qualifications
Act as RWC relevant to ISO 3834 certification
THE PERSON
Ideally you will possess, or be capable of obtaining, the internationally recognised European/International Welding Specialist Diploma qualification, delivered by the welding institute (TWI) or equivalent academia.
In addition, you will have strong technical and analytical skills with a keen eye for problem solving and delivering ongoing improvements within this specialist area.
Also possessing a good level of IT skills, you will ideally also have a working knowledge of the submerged arc welding processes within a pipe mill environment although is not essential.
