Director of Ecology Location: Guildford / Hybrid Salary / Benefits: Circa £70,000 - £80,000 dependant on level of experience plus package including: - 25 days leave plus bank holidays - Bonus Scheme - Enhanced Pension Plan - Health Care / Life Insurance Summary An independent innovative, pragmatic and fast-growing environmental consultancy specialising in terrestrial ecology, freshwater ecology, habitat management, arboriculture services and geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping, is looking for a Director of Ecology to lead their Ecology department (encompassing terrestrial and freshwater ecology) and be accountable for its direction, delivery and financial success. As Director of Ecology you will: - Provide strategic leadership to, and management of the department holding the team accountable for the delivery of their objectives. - Lead the ecology management team, providing direction and support. - Be accountable for the department's utilisation, financial performance and standards of client deliverables, delivering year on year financial growth. - Develop and deliver a strategic approach to winning work. Ensure a focus on proactive work winning across the team. You will play a key role in maintaining relationships with existing clients and developing relationships with potential clients, securing future contracts. - Drive excellence and innovation in our services. - Ensure project work is delivered to time, cost, quality and client satisfaction. - Ensure robustness of technical skills, capability and resilience. - You will provide best practice advice and recommendations to clients and colleagues, to ensure their projects are able to proceed in line with the latest legislation, policy and industry best practice requirements. - Ensure the team are aligned with company vision and values. Skills / Experience - A Minimum of 10 years' experience in the Ecology / Environmental Field and a broad and deep wealth of expertise in Ecology - Degree Qualified in a relevant subject - Membership of a relevant professional body - Chartered status or working towards - Key Environmental/Ecological legislation understanding - Standardised habitat survey methodologies (Phase 1, NVC etc.) - UK protected and invasive species - Faunal survey methodologies - Biodiversity Action Planning - Habitat creation techniques - Ecological Management Plans - Habitat management theory and practice - UK species identification and taxonomy - Conservation management and planning - Environmental condition assessment - Experience in Biodiversity off setting / No Net Loss - Holding relevant licences i.e. GCN and/or bat licence For further information and to apply get in touch with a copy of your CV.
