The Health Improvement Service (HIS) is a well established and known service, that has been supporting the people of Salford to improve their health and wellbeing since 2004. We deliver a variety of enjoyable activities and programmes in the community that help residents to adopt healthier lifestyles to become physically active, eat more healthily, quit smoking and much more. The service operates across eight Neighbourhood Teams, each of which is managed by a Neighbourhood Health Improvement Officer.
About the role
The HIS are responsible for delivering health and wellbeing activities and programmes in the community, such as leading health walks, cycle rides in a geographical neighbourhood and have personalised targets to meet the needs of the neighbourhood. These advertised roles are specific to either supporting people to stop smoking or supporting people’s health in relation to employment issues. Part of the role will include working in very busy GP practices delivering interventions such as NHS Health Checks.
We are looking to recruit to:
* 5 x Stop Smoking Advisor posts (including 1 x post Saturday to Wednesday who will have an additional 2 increments for regular weekend working)
* 2 x Work Well Coaches (to support people around health related employment issues)

Your role
The Work Well Coach will be to provide a supportive environment that enables each individual to identify their health and wellbeing concerns and the impact these are having. That will involve taking a strengths-based approach, focusing on ‘what matters to me’ and, together with the individual, producing a personalised and holistic support plan that aims to help the individual thrive. We’ll also rely on you to work alongside your neighbourhood HIS team to provide direct interventions and connect individuals to diverse community-based support, thus ensuring they are able to maintain their health, wellbeing in the longer term.
The Stop Smoking Advisor will be to highly motivated and compassionate and deliver face-to-face stop smoking support to eligible clients, utilizing a client-centred approach to empower individuals to make sustainable lifestyle changes. You will provide one-on-one and group support, guiding clients in understanding the benefits of quitting and creating personalized quit plans. Local experience is a plus, along with being a flexible team player who is efficient and punctual. Strong rapport-building and customer service skills are essential. Contribute to the development and implementation of new programmes and services, working closely with colleagues to drive innovation and excellence.

About the Interview
Closing date of roles is Friday 22nd November.
Shortlisting will be finished by Monday 25th November.
The interviews will be held Monday 2nd December & Tuesday 3rd December, it will consist of 3 stages:
* Stage 1 Interviews: 5 questions to identify & confirm your knowledge from your application. 25 mins
* Stage 2 Scenario: you will be given a test scenario at least 3 days in advance of interview, this is to test your engagement and listening skills. 15 mins
* Stage 3 Data Inputting: you will be inputting data from a printed sheet on to an Excel document or a Word form, as the role involves data inputting into various IT systems including GP patient records. 20 mins
About you
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about improving the lives of the people of Salford. You must be highly motivated, an excellent communicator, organised, creative, committed to reducing health inequalities, adaptable, proactive, and able to work at a fast pace, to fluid timescales, both independently and as part of a wider team, utilising your own initiative.
You will need to be friendly and approachable and have experience of working with a diverse range of communities to, with an empathetic and non-judgemental approach.

Additional requirements: There will be a requirement to travel around Salford. You may be required to work evenings and weekends occasionally, as the Service delivers outside of standard business hours. We work flexibly to meet the service need and demands.
