Renowned for their technical expertise and customer-centric approach, they are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead their team and contribute to the successful execution of complex projects.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take a leadership role in designing high-quality electrical systems for substations while managing and mentoring a small team of engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership skills to drive the success of critical infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Design Leadership: Lead the design of electrical systems for substations, including HV and LV systems, protection schemes, and layout configurations.
2. Team Management: Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
3. Project Delivery: Oversee design projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications, budgets, and timelines.
4. Technical Excellence: Conduct technical reviews and ensure designs comply with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions.
6. Problem-Solving: Address technical challenges and implement effective solutions to ensure project success.
7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design processes, tools, and team performance.
Key Skills and Experience:
1. Extensive experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on substations and power distribution systems.
2. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
3. Proficiency in using design software and tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
4. Deep understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, protection relays, and control schemes.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams and with clients.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Professional accreditation (e.g., IET, CEng).
3. Experience with grid connection projects or working with utilities.
4. Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC, BS, and G99.
