Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Nurse Manager to join the Main Theatre Suite, with responsibility for Pre-Operative Assessment, Department of scheduled Admission (DOSA), and the Pain Service. This is a demanding but rewarding leadership role, working alongside the current Nurse Manager to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality perioperative care.
The successful candidate will take on the operational management of a large and complex department, overseeing the clinical governance and future planning of services. With responsibility for a workforce of approximately 160 whole-time equivalent staff, strong leadership and workforce management skills will be essential. A key focus of the role will be ensuring that resources are effectively allocated, patient flow is optimised, and that services evolve to meet future demands. The role also requires a strategic approach to planning future utilisation, ensuring that theatre capacity and associated services are used efficiently to support safe and timely surgical care.
Applicants must have extensive experience in perioperative care and experience in a Band 7 role as a Senior Charge Nurse or equivalent within a perioperative setting. They should be able to demonstrate proficiency in clinical governance, workforce planning, and organisational change management in a large, complex healthcare environment.
Strong leadership skills, the ability to influence and inspire teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care are essential.
This is a challenging role that demands resilience, strategic thinking, and excellent problem-solving skills. However, for the right candidate, it offers the opportunity to make a real impact, shaping the future of perioperative services and leading a highly skilled team in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
If you are ready to take on this exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you.
