We are looking for a dynamic and caring Care Officer to provide personal care and support to residents, assist with medication administration, and compile and maintain Residents' Care plans on our electronic care planning system.
Your role will include supporting the teams to maintain a clean, fresh, and homely environment, providing person-centred care for individuals and groups of residents consistent with their needs through a range of duties including personal care and meaningful activities.
You will support residents throughout the day to maintain their independence, assisting and supporting them as required, while engaging and listening to their preferences in how they would like to be cared for. You will also respond to enquiries from families and health professionals.
To undertake this role effectively, you must demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and people skills. We are looking for an organised individual with a positive, can-do approach who can work well under pressure with senior support. Excellent people skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Experience in working in a social care environment is essential. Possession of an SVQ 3 or equivalent is desirable; however, successful applicants who do not hold this qualification must demonstrate a willingness to work towards achieving it within a reasonable timescale. We offer a full package of training and development through ILearn and in-house development.
Requirements
This post is considered Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, and as such, membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
