Description Our local government clients in Summerset are recruiting a Landlord and Compliance Specialist, a role that offers significant potential for personal and professional growth. The specialist will provide technical expertise on all landlord aspects of property compliance, including radon, water safety, asbestos, and other property safety-related matters. They will also ensure that ‘Best Practice’ is implemented in the service delivery and manage the service across numerous sites, ensuring resources are deployed effectively. Responsibility Ensure that the responsibilities, including the ‘Duty of Care’ (which refers to the legal obligation to ensure the safety and well-being of others), follow current Legislation, Government Policy, Regulatory Requirements, approved Codes of Practice, and guidance and align with the Corporate Plan, Business Plans, and Service Plans. Failure to undertake statutory inspections could result in death, injury, structural damage, criminal proceedings, and reputational damage. Essential Qualifications GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. Membership of relevant professionals, e.g. IOSH, BOHS Qualification in project management, e.g. Prince2 CIH Certificate in Housing Management. Advanced – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, social media, and CRM. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements - Criteria-to be Tested at Shortlisting. Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of all landlord property-related safety statutory responsibilities, Government Policy, Regulatory Requirements, approved Codes of Practice, and guidance. Sound working knowledge of the Building Regulations. Possesses management experience, ideally within Local Government. High knowledge of Local Government issues and understanding of related service areas and issues. Knowledge of medium-term financial planning and the integration between service and financial planning. Experience working in and supporting partnerships with various internal and external bodies, including government and non-government organisations and the private and voluntary sectors. Significant experience in managing property-related safety compliance within a social housing environment (36 months plus) Significant experience in landlord property safety and residential housing stock. Understanding, experience, and knowledge of project management practices for landlord property safety. Relevant social housing experience and understanding of the sector. Demonstrates management skills, including deploying resources and staff, managing change and responding flexibly. A demonstrative track record of leading, motivating and managing teams to achieve significant, sustainable service improvements and outstanding results through internal and external partnership Ability to extract relevant information from reports and translate these so a wide range of people can understand them. Able to prepare and present reports on general and specific related matters to non-experts clearly and comprehensively.
