We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Quality Manager to join our Technology team based in Bristol.
What will you be doing?
The Data Quality Manager will be responsible for improving the quality of data across IOP Publishing to ensure accuracy, consistency and reliability. This is a new and exciting opportunity to lead data improvement projects and initiatives, enhance data processes, and ensure data quality and governance across the organisation. We need someone willing to drive improvements and is comfortable getting hands on when required.
The Data Quality Manager will champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, ensuring data is efficiently and effectively captured, processed, stored and disposed of. They will work very closely with all areas of the organisation including the legal department to enhance and ensure good data management, in line with appropriate regulative requirements (GDPR).
Key job accountabilities include:
* Project Management: Overseeing data projects, ensuring timely and within-scope delivery.
* Leadership: Lead cross departments / matrix teams of data stakeholders, chair data steward forums and data user groups.
* Collaboration: Work with data users and technical teams across the organisation.
* Data Quality: Baseline, develop standards and improve data quality across IOPP.
* Reporting: Track and improve data metrics to ensure adoption of best practices.
* Process Improvement: Document, automate and improve data artefacts (processes, policies, glossaries, metadata repositories etc).
About you:
Professional qualifications
* Degree in computing or able to demonstrate appropriate experience.
* Membership of a data management organisation (e.g. DAMA) would be advantageous.
Knowledge & previous experience
* Excellent knowledge of data management concepts (e.g. data governance, data quality).
* Project management across both Agile and Waterfall.
* Good, rounded knowledge of important data domains (e.g. customer, finance, marketing, product).
* Experience using a data governance tool (e.g. Collibra, Microsoft Purview).
* Knowledge of legal and ethical data usage (GDPR etc).
Preferred:
* Experience with Snowflake / comparable cloud data platforms.
* Familiarity with PowerBI or similar Analytics tool.
* Proficiency in SQL / Python or relevant programming languages.
* Matrix team management.
