Job summary Applications are invited for the post of a Subspecialty Trainee Research Fellow in Gynae-oncology at Nottingham. Applicants should possess MRCOG or an equivalent qualification, must be registered with the GMC and have achieved ST6/7 or above. This is not a Deanery funded training post and does not come with an NTN. This post has 50 % clinical and 50 % research with full time participation in O and G on call rota and will be for 4 years term Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be based at the Gynaecological Cancer Centre at City Hospital, Nottingham which is one of the busiest and largest Gynae oncology Cancer Centres in Midlands. This is a RCOG Subspecialty Training Committee approved post for 4 years (50 % clinical and 50 % research). The research component can be clinical research or laboratory-based research and depends on the candidates' profile and previous research experience and departmental research needs. Treating patients in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, developing skills and expertise in the field of Gynaecological Oncology as determined by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist. About us The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community based obstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetrics and gynaecology service, of which 18 are obstetric consultants, 18 gynaecologists, and 8 combined obstetrician and gynaecologists. The hospital based services are split between the City hospital and Queen's Medical Centre sites. Both have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services. There is a 3 tier junior doctor 24 hour presence. Our fetal medicine centre accepts regional referrals, and is delivered across the two sites. There is a dedicated maternal medicine service, with multi professional clinics including obstetric haematology, renal, and medical. There is a strong research presence in the department, with Nottingham contributing to, and leading, national and international clinical trials.
