Purpose of Job: Supporting the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for managing the calibration and repair activity within the branch, training, coaching, and mentoring the engineering departments, ensuring delivery of a first-class service to all customers. You will ensure efficient and cost-effective workflow and the smooth everyday running of the departments, and that KPI's and Key objectives are met and maintained.
Key Day to Day Duties:
1. Oversee the engineering processes within the branch.
2. Automate production process & improve the productivity of the labs.
3. Provide a strong customer service focus for both internal and external customers.
4. Reduce the subcontracting expenditure & reduce the number of sub-contractors.
5. Work with the site QHSE Coordinator, participating in external & internal audits.
6. Ensure that mandatory and legislative QH&S/HS&E aspects of work are implemented at all times.
7. Overall responsibility for the technical and administrative maintenance and calibration of all equipment.
8. Oversee some local satellite sites with remote staff.
To Be Suitable for This Role, You Must Have:
1. Recent Management, Head of Laboratory or supervisory experience within Calibration, Manufacturing or Engineering setting.
2. Technical qualification such as degree, HND, HNC, NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or above.
3. Previous Account Management / Customer / Stakeholder facing experience.
4. Experienced Operations Manager.
5. Excellent communication skills at all levels, both verbal and written.
6. Self-starter, resourceful, flexible, responsive, detail-oriented and possess a good work ethic.
7. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and internal software systems.
8. Currently residing in the UK with a full UK driving licence.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. Extensive calibration knowledge, ideally UKAS certification.
2. Knowledge of Windows-based laboratory automation software (MetCAL, InGAGE, ProCal, SureCal, etc.).
3. Technical experience over a number of different disciplines within the industry.
4. Proven ability to build strong working relationships internally within the Management team.
5. Experienced line manager with performance management expertise.
6. Change management - proven experience in implementing & driving change to increase efficiency and productivity.
7. Ability to mentor and coach junior employees.
8. Team player; maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
9. Ability to persuade and influence others.
10. Proactive approach towards key decisions for the business in line with UK strategy.
11. Lean and Six Sigma experience or background.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate leadership, motivational, teamwork and change advocate abilities. Have excellent problem-solving skills both operational and technical. Be dynamic, hands-on, flexible and understand the needs of the business and our customer's demands.
