Job summary Deputy Ward Manager - Risca Ward An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy ward manager on Risca Ward at the Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital. To assist with the management of the ward on a day to day basis by supporting and acting on behalf the ward manager. To be aware and demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing. Work in conjunction with other disciplines in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. To promote evidence based practise and act as an accountable role model and clinical expert. Main duties of the job You will be expected to work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team on the Unit and be actively involved in providing high standards of quality care. You will also be expected to demonstrate a high level of nursing assessment and clinical care skills by supporting Band 5 nurses, Student nurses and Band 2 HCSW's in their professional development within this dedicated environment. In addition you will be required to provide support and advice to patients and their families/carers.You will be expected to facilitate safe, effective and timely discharges of patients.We are seeking an enthusiastic forward thinking nurse to join this new team.The successful post holder will assist with ward management responsibilities and strong nurse leadership to support the Band 7 Ward Manager.If you thrive on a challenge and feel that you have the qualities and interpersonal skills, this will be the post for you. This post is secondment for 6 months due to secondment cover.
