Job summary The successful post holder will clean, decontaminate and maintain a variety of endoscopes following departmental protocols to agreed standards and be aware of COSHH regulations and the importance of wearing PPE. In liaison with Decontamination Lead Band 7 and Unit Manager, maintain the overall management of endoscopes and reprocessing machines. The post holder will be required to train Band 2 / more junior staff, in accordance with departmental competencies, The Trust and National decontamination policies. Prepare environments for use during endoscopy lists. Work and assist as a Band 3 in all diagnostic and endoscopic procedures with guidance from a Registered Nurse, working within a competency framework, with support from the Directorate Professional Development Team and the County wide Decontamination Lead. In conjunction with Unit Manager / Registered Nurses, support, teach and guide other Health Care Assisstants to achieve a suitable competency level. Assist Registered Nurse to provide a high standard of care to patients in the clinical areas. For example, monitoring patients in the recovery area and maintaining a patient's airway during a diagnostic gastroscopy. Carry out a range of patient care tasks as directed, supported and supervised by a Registered Nurse. To work County wide as and when needed to meet demands of the service.
