- Are you experienced in working with Children and Young People?
- Are you looking for something flexible?
IF YES TO THE ABOVE TWO QUESTIONS, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
About Us:
We are a dedicated, Ofsted-registered children’s home committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic care for up to four children and young people aged 10-18 who cannot live in their own family setting.
We have a beautiful and large home in Merstham that benefits from having a large garden area on the edge of the Surrey Hills, providing numerous opportunities for engaging the children in outdoor activities. We also have two house pets, our Lop-eared Bunnies, which offer pet therapy time for the children!
We have a very experienced leadership team with backgrounds in Residential Childcare, Social Work, and Fostering. Our mission is to create a safe, nurturing environment where each young person can grow, heal, and develop the skills needed to thrive as they transition to adulthood.
We’re currently looking for passionate and experienced Childcare Workers to join our team on a flexible basis and make a positive, lasting impact.
About the Role:
As a Bank Residential Childcare Practitioner, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of the young people in our care. You will work closely with a committed team of other Practitioners, a Deputy Manager, and the Registered Manager to provide a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, helping young people reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day care, support, and supervision for young people in line with their individual care plans.
* Assist the Deputy and Registered Manager with key tasks including care planning, behaviour management, and team supervision.
* Facilitate therapeutic and recreational activities that support young people's development and emotional well-being.
* Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports, and other required documentation in compliance with Ofsted regulations.
* Mentor, support, and guide junior team members to ensure high standards of care.
* Promote a positive and safe environment, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and an understanding of the challenges faced by young people with complex needs.
* Participate in training, team meetings, and reflective practice sessions to continually develop your skills and support best practices.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an Ofsted-regulated setting.
* Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and the Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours and demonstrate a calm, patient, and solution-focused approach.
* Valid UK driver’s licence.
* Flexibility to work long shifts and sleep-ins as required.
What We Offer:
* Competitive pay scale with great opportunities for career progression.
* Great work-life balance with long day and sleep shift pattern (Avg 2-3 shifts per week for FTE).
* Comprehensive induction, training, and ongoing professional development.
* Supportive and collaborative working environment.
* Pension scheme.
* Opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Application Process:
If you are a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated childcare professional looking to advance your career in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a cover letter detailing your experience and suitability for the role.
