Senior Rotational Pharmacy Assistant
The role is a split position between Dispensary and Medicines Management and will involve working in the Main Inpatient Dispensary, and as part of the ward based Medicines Management Team.
We are looking for candidates who have experience within the Hospital Pharmacy setting although we welcome applications from people with wider ranging pharmacy experience. Ideally, they should have some medicines management and counselling experience, although full training is given.
Please note: Candidates without the Dispensary Assistants Course (ADAC) or NVQ Level 2 qualification will join as a Band 3 Senior Rotational Pharmacy Assistant until they have completed the required training and qualifications to work at a Band 4 level ideally within 1 year of employment.

Main duties of the job
You will be offered a variety of experience and training within each area:
* Dispensary - Dispensing prescriptions within the main Inpatient Dispensary as well as providing a stock top-up service to allocated wards, liaising with external Trust staff and assisting the Lead Pharmacy Technicians and senior Pharmacy Technicians in coordinating the workflow, training and supervision of staff.
* Medicines Management Services - Work in conjunction with the Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians to provide a safe and efficient near-patient pharmacy service based at ward level. This includes accurately checking patient's medications contained in the bedside medicines locker on admission, initiating further supplies, and assisting the Lead Pharmacy Technicians and senior Pharmacy Technicians in the training of staff.

Job responsibilities
To accurately dispense and deliver pharmaceuticals to patients from the inpatient dispensary. To assist in the provision of a drug top up service to 30+ wards and clinics. Accurately top up pharmaceutical stock on wards or departments as allocated. To provide basic services to allocated wards within the Trust as part of the Medicines Management team. Assist with the training and supervision of staff where appropriate.

Qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualification
* Dispensary Assistants Course (ADAC)
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or an equivalent accredited qualification e.g. ADAC course
* Extensive hospital pharmacy experience
* Experience in Patient Consultation and counselling on their medications
Knowledge
* Experience of pharmacy practice.
