Building Sciences a division of EDP part of RSK Group are looking to hire a Test Engineer, you might be an experienced airtightness/acoustic professional, or looking to move into a more varied and exciting field of site testing and validation. This role will be Permanent and full time. Above all you will have a passion for quality and a desire to deliver compliance within the built environment.
Based from our Hemel Hempstead or Glasgow offices, as part of our Building Sciences business you will help deliver our range of accredited building compliance/diagnostic services to some of the major companies in the UK construction industry. Whatever your level of knowledge, you will soon find yourself confidently delivering our solutions led services directly to our clients.
You will ideally possess working knowledge of current construction design and technology and/or a strong desire to learn, and experience of airtightness testing (at least to level 1 ATTMA accreditation). Similar experience of acoustic testing would be of benefit and open up greater opportunities.
Main Responsibilities
* Assisting the Building Science team in measurement of airtightness, acoustic and thermal performance including site-based testing and desk-based calculation, or undertaking in-situ monitoring and evaluation of environment and component performance
* Taking a lead on site liaising with client teams and scheduling daily work activities.
* Reviewing enquiries and preparing fee proposals for testing services
* Assisting with calibration and maintenance of equipment
* Taking an active role in scheduling test activities
Personal Specification
* Minimum GCSE or Scottish N5 at Grade C/4 or equivalent level qualification in Mathematics and English
* A further education qualification or degree level qualification in a construction or related engineering discipline would be beneficial but not essential
* ATTMA Level 1 airtightness testing certification (or above)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with a confidence to challenge accepted thinking and an ability to influence change
* Good IT literacy and skilled with Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word
* A full UK driving licence
* A flexible approach to work, both office based and out on site, and be able to adapt to change
* A willingness to travel daily in your geographical area and throughout the UK as required
* A self-motivated attitude, with good time management and the ability to work to your own initiative

* £28,500–30,000, Van
