We are recruiting for an Emergency Nurse Practitioner - Urgent Care who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The post holder is responsible for actively managing, assessing, and coordinating the provision of high-quality care daily to meet agreed UTC (Urgent Treatment Centre) and professional standards.
The post holder will, in conjunction with the other band 7 staff, provide leadership, advise, and support to the patients attending the UTC. The post holder will actively participate in staff appraisal, not only for themselves but also for others, by setting objectives and learning outcomes in consultation with the Lead and Senior Nurse in working to the requirements of the NHS Plan.
As a Nurse Practitioner, the post holder will be responsible for the provision of an autonomous service for UTC patients presenting with certain minor injuries and minor illnesses. The post holder will manage their own caseload, referring for a medical opinion only when secondary involvement is necessary.
This post requires the post holder to cover shifts across a 24-hour period, seven days per week, to ensure that the needs of the service are met. It may be necessary to cover shifts at the QEII UTC / A&E Lister as required.

Main duties of the job
1. To act as an effective role model/expert resource to colleagues in the delivery of nursing care.
2. To co-ordinate nursing procedures and treatments, set standards, and maintain high levels of care.
3. By effective workforce management/supervision of staff, ensure safe documented practice and co-ordinate risk assessments where situations may be detrimental to the health and well-being of an individual.
4. To report incidents involving patients and members of staff to the Lead or Senior Nurse or Senior manager on-call to ensure where possible corrective action is taken.
5. Carry continuous responsibility for standards of care.
6. To ensure that the Trust infection control policies and procedures are followed by all the team.
7. Act as a role model, demonstrating good practice and ensuring these standards are maintained.
8. Responsible for ensuring the patient environment is maintained.

Qualifications
* Registered nurse on the NMC registers with extensive experience
* Recognised post-registration course relevant to Minor injury/illness
* Evidence of continued professional development in relevant areas of specialty.
* Working towards a degree at higher level Leadership qualification.
* Non-Medical prescriber or willingness to undertake the course.
Previous Experience
* Clinical and managerial experience within the field of Medical nursing at Senior Staff Nurse level.
* Current working knowledge and skills within Experience of caring for patients with medical complaints.
* Current experience working in medicine or equivalent acute area with proven management experience
* Experience in change management Experience of nursing within an acute clinical setting.
* Experience in managing a ward/department including management of staff, rota, staff competencies, and resources.
Skills
* Effective leadership ability.
* Ability to deliver multidisciplinary education at department level and to assess.
* An effective communicator with attention to detail.
