We are looking for a self-motivated registered nurse/clinical research practitioner (CRP) to work on clinical research studies within the Early Phase Clinical Trials Team (EPCTT). You will provide care for research patients and will manage, with support, the administration and day to day running of studies, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
Previous oncology or clinical trials experience is essential and previous early phase clinical trials experience is highly desirable. You will need the ability to work in a self-directed and flexible manner.
The EPCTT is a multi-disciplinary group of doctors, nurses/CRP's, data managers and a trial coordinator led by Dr Simon Pacey. The EPCTT's research goals are to optimise the science-led clinical application of novel therapies, including first into man (phase 1) and associated pharmacology studies.
The EPCTT is part of the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC) and benefits from a major commitment from Cancer Research UK, recognising Cambridge's position at the forefront of cancer research.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Research Nurse/Practitioner will be a member of the Cambridge Cancer Trials Team. You will work closely with the health care teams associated with the multidisciplinary team. The key responsibilities are:
1. Help to identify patients eligible for clinical trials
2. Provide information and support for patients entering clinical trials
3. Co-ordinate trial patient treatment, assessment, follow-up and data collection according to specific clinical trial protocols
This will include close liaison with relevant staff of departments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, pharmacy, radiology, outpatients and in-patients, Research & Development and Ethics departments.
