Channel Trading Director
c£160,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 3)

We're looking for a Channel Trading Director to join our Commercial team here at Co-op.
In this role you'll develop and implement our multichannel proposition plan across Price, Promotions and Range. You'll use retail insight to create custom plans for our Wholesale, Societies, Franchise and wider Co-op businesses.
We'll look to you to help set the strategic direction of the business via the 5-year business plan. You'll represent our Co-op proposition externally, fuel growth and investment, and be fully accountable for the profit delivery of Food.

What you'll do
* Lead a high performing team who align and work collectively across create, buy, move, and sell
* Drive strategic partnerships with an external supply base of over 1000 suppliers
* Build relationships with senior partners across our Supply Base, using your influencing skills externally to make Co-op the retail partner of choice and delivering improvements in GCA rankings
* Be responsible for the multi-channel group delivering omni-channel strategic plans for omni-channel presence
* Own the commerciality of our membership proposition, looking for ways to inspire and influence supplier engagement
* Translate business strategy into priorities and outcomes for the Commercial team and inspire colleagues to deliver against them
* Support the commercial team to develop the capabilities required to deliver, anticipate and manage change
* Empower leaders in the team to contribute to and deliver the business strategy
This role would suit people who have
* A strong commercial background, with the ability to use insight and data to inform business decisions
* Broad trading experience gained across multiple channels in a Retail or FMCG environment
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, inspire and motivate colleagues across our Co-op
* Well-developed influencing skills across a wide range of internal and external senior level stakeholders
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in translating technical matters into simple and accessible language
* A high level of curiosity, with an openness to new ideas and experience of driving innovation across a broad team
