We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for you to provide professional support to the National Grid Director of SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment and Communities). This is a crucial time for the business as we are about to enter a new price control period with our stakeholders in Ofgem and that comes at an already busy time within the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) Executive.
You will organise comprehensive administrative and personal support to a senior executive, ensuring their day-to-day activities run smoothly and efficiently. This is a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, where the executive's time is extremely valuable. You’ll be responsible for managing the Director’s calendar and correspondence, organising meetings, and facilitating communication between the Director and other staff members or clients.
In addition, you’ll be involved in conducting research, preparing reports, coordinating travel arrangements, and assisting with personal tasks. The goal is to optimise the Director’s time and enable them to focus on leading their teams and achieving the company's ambitious goals. You’ll be part of the Senior Leadership team in the directorate, offering support and providing advice and guidance to the leaders in the directorate.
Summary of Key Accountabilities
* Efficient diary management, ensuring no conflicts, building in preparation and reading time.
* Manage incoming and outgoing communications, respond on behalf of the executive when appropriate.
* Organise and coordinate meetings, in some cases preparing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
* Arrange and book travel.
* Prepare and edit documents, reports, presentations, and other materials as needed.
* Conduct research and gather information to support decision-making and strategic planning.
* Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
* Function as a liaison between the executive and other staff members, clients, and external partners.
We’re flexible on where you are based in England, however travel will be required to Penwortham Substation in Preston, as well as travel to Warwick and London. This can be combined with hybrid working from home.

With proven experience as a PA supporting a leader and their team in a fast-moving commercial environment, you’ll be able to navigate changing priorities and unforeseen challenges.
You're great at building strong relationships across all levels of an organisation quickly and are happy pushing back at all levels to get your job done.
With the ability to thrive in a busy environment, you’re able to prioritise your own workload while dealing with curveballs that come your way.
Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential as is a high level of attention to detail. You’ll have the ability to assemble and handle highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
You will have a high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as other relevant tools. An understanding of the industry in which the company operates, including key players, market trends, and regulatory environment, would be advantageous.

You’ll receive a competitive salary between £39,000 - £43,600 – dependent on capability.
