SEN Learning Support Assistant
Full time or Part time temporary
Start date: ASAP
We are looking for experienced, committed, and flexible SEND Learning Support Assistants who are seeking temporary work assignments in special schools around the Wakefield area. These placements are to cover sickness or maternity and can sometimes lead to a permanent placement.
This position would suit individuals already working with children with special educational needs or those currently studying an educational degree or Health and Social Care. You will be required to have some experience and understanding of working in a special school or similar setting.
Job Specification & Description:
* Minimal qualification requirements are: Teaching Assistant Level Two, GNVQ Level Two Health & Social Care, Degree in Education and SEND.
* Understanding and knowledge of differentiated Special Educational Needs.
* Knowledge of complex learning disabilities, including Autism, Down's Syndrome, global developmental delay, speech impairment, hearing impairment, profound learning difficulties, Pathological Avoidance Disorder, and severe learning difficulties.
* Willingness to assist with personal care if needed.
* Flexible and adaptable for last-minute early morning calls if required.
* Clear oral communication skills are highly important, especially for children with hearing impairments.
* Enhanced DBS on the subscription service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
* A strong desire to support children in need while staying resilient in difficult situations.
* Be ready to engage with the children, build relationships, and take direction from the class teacher.
* We do not offer Sponsorship.
