NHS Grampian – Medical Director
NHS Grampian, one of Scotland's largest teaching boards, is seeking a passionate and experienced Medical Director to lead and influence healthcare delivery for over 550,000 residents of the Grampian region as well as neighbouring NHS Boards, Orkney and Shetland. As the Board Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in the region, driving the delivery of high-quality care, and leading clinical governance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide professional leadership to over 2,500 medical and dental clinicians, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance.
* Oversee the development of NHS Grampian's medical workforce and lead the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
* Lead on research, development, and innovation within the Board, ensuring robust research governance systems are in place.
* Provide expert medical advice to the NHS Grampian Board and Executive Team, supporting the strategic objectives of the organisation.
* Drive forward NHS Grampian's Plan for the Future, transforming healthcare delivery to better serve the population.
* Take executive leadership for risk management, information governance, and pharmacy services, ensuring compliance and excellence across all areas.
Requirements:
* Full GMC registration and a current licence to practise.
* Significant experience in a senior medical management role within a complex healthcare environment.
* Proven ability to lead clinical governance, manage clinical risk, and drive continuous improvement in healthcare services.
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively at local, regional, and national levels.
* A strong understanding of the NHS in Scotland, including policies and regulations relevant to the delivery of healthcare.
