* Complex Care Support Worker
Location: Bedford
Hours: 12-hour day shifts and night shifts available.
Pay: £15.80 per hour weekdays
£16.80 per hour night shifts & Saturday day shift.
£17.80 per hour Sunday day shift.
Additional hours available for 2:1 support, including out in the community.
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, adaptable and reliable support worker to join our team and provide tailored support to a young man with complex needs.
This rewarding role requires someone who can offer flexible support and make a positive difference in his life with daily activities, promoting independence and ensuring his physical and emotional wellbeing.
As his support worker, you will support this young man both within a busy family home and in community settings, helping him to lead a fulfilling life and achieve his personal goals; your role will be diverse.
Due to role responsibilities, you must have a full UK driving licence for the day shifts.
About the Client:
Our client is a 20-year-old male with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Epilepsy, and Dysphagia, and he is wheelchair dependent. He has an independent mindset and would like the respect and encouragement to make his own choices; however, he needs carefully guided support for his safety and to remain focused on his goals. He is currently away at a specialist education college, due to return home June/July, and is currently planning to attend a local further education college starting in September.
He likes cats and has two within the family home, so team members must be comfortable with this. He also has an interest in trains, buses, cinema, music, church, Olympics, and balloons.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver personalized care and support to our client.
2. Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
3. Administer medication and monitor health conditions.
4. Accompany client in the community on a 2:1 ratio.
5. Provide emotional support and companionship.
6. Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in the client's condition.
7. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements:
1. Experience in a similar role, within a family household.
2. Experience with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Dysphagia, and/or Epilepsy desirable - or a willingness to learn!
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Energetic, upbeat, and empathetic nature.
5. Awareness of accessibility - knowledge of wheelchair-friendly routes, transport, and venues.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Flexibility to work the specified hours.
8. Valid UK driver's license.
