St Stephen's Redditch, Redditch, Worcestershire
Hours: Part Time (24 hours/3 days)
Salary: £37,000
Description of Job
Church Context & Vision
St Stephen’s Redditch is a historic town centre church currently undergoing a season of renewal. In 2024, the church will be injected with new vision, strategy, and resources to proclaim the good news of Christ to Redditch with renewed vibrancy. St Stephen’s is part of the New Wine network and stands firmly within the Charismatic evangelical tradition of the Church of England as part of the Diocese of Worcester.
St Stephen’s renewed vision is shaped by four key emphases: worship, faith, community, and witness. This aims to deeply nurture the whole church in their Christian discipleship, equipping and releasing them to make disciples in their local contexts. Coinciding with this is funding from the Church Commissioners for building redevelopment works and salaried staff roles, which will serve and bring this vision to life. Alongside the clergy, church council, and wardens, the ministry leadership team will serve the church, model faithful discipleship, cast vision, build teams, raise leaders, and equip the church through gifts of prophecy, evangelism, teaching, pastoral care, and apostolic witness. St Stephen’s has a wider remit of partnership and resourcing of the Greater Redditch Mission Area and will seek opportunities to work in gospel partnership with other local churches.
The Role
The Operations & Ministry Coordinator (OMC) will be responsible for coordinating different ministry areas and encouraging collaborative and synchronized practice and communication. They will help produce a vision and strategy for ministerial coordination, identifying, leading, and training a wider group of administrators and those with operational and communication skills. The OMC will oversee the management of the building, its usage and maintenance, and the administration of occasional offices and church council meetings. They will assist the treasurer with financial administration and stewardship, engage in pastoral conversations, and work alongside ministry leaders and volunteers to help people grow in their faith. A personal understanding of the Christian gospel is essential.
At this stage, there are no fixed expectations about the role, so it may emerge organically as the St Stephen’s renewal project begins. The role description will be outlined and agreed collaboratively after 6 months of employment. Tasks will likely involve oversight of a church database; connecting new people into the life of the church; facilitating good communication and compliance; coordinating the church’s corporate life, diaries, and building occupancies; leading on building management and maintenance; ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health and safety policies; facilitating positive interaction between different ministry groups and activities; assisting with church finances and expenditures; and helping with the administration of church council and the ministry leadership team.

We are the church in the centre of Redditch and are currently stepping into a season of renewal and praying for revival in our day.
St Stephen's has been commissioned as a 'renewal church' within the Diocese of Worcester. We have received finances from the Church Commissioners of the Church of England to enable the vision to become a reality. We are about to undertake a significant building reordering project, employ a team of key ministry leaders, and a new pioneer minister started in role during the autumn of 2024.
Our vision:
We seek to be a thriving community of missionary disciples, empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship God passionately, follow Jesus faithfully, love one another radically, and share hope courageously, in Redditch and to the ends of the earth.
Our values:
* We are ANGLICAN and committed to the historic, apostolic faith we have inherited as part of the Diocese of Worcester and the global Anglican communion.
* We are CHARISMATIC, meaning we believe the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit are at the forefront of the church’s life and mission in every season.
* We are EVANGELICAL, meaning we place particular emphasis on the authority of the Bible, the saving work of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, personal conversion and lifelong sanctification, and the active momentum of the gospel beyond the church community.
