Job summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic team based in Ipswich, we are looking for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner that is passionate about recovery led care with a focus on promoting least restrictive practice on Lark Ward, our Psychiatric Intensive Care unit based at Woodlands Hospital located within Ipswich Hospital Site. Lark Ward provides intense treatment for service users who are at their most vulnerable. Our team provides care and treatment at the most critical time in their mental health recovery. There are several things we focus on as a team to provide a high standard of care: the design of our environment maximises safety, therapy and security. We also deliver our care alongside a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled staff; our staff are specialist within mental health and we work with established staffing levels to minimise risks. Lark Ward are currently involved within a Quality Improvement project focusing on activities provided to assist people with their recovery. We are looking at improving our psychology, complimentary therapy, occupational therapy and talking therapies which our staff are excited to take part in to develop. This focus coincides with our huge focus on least restrictive practices which is something we are proud of as a team. Main duties of the job Whilst there are some roles and responsibilities that can only be carried out by a Registered Nurse, we are looking to develop the role of an Assistant Practitioner to enable participation in a wider range of opportunities. This includes attending inpatient reviews, completing relevant documentation such as clinical notes and risk assessments (under the supervision of a Registered Nurse) and medication administration following completion of training and competency assessment. You would also be involved in change management projects such as quality improvement. You will support the Registered Nurses with the day to day activities and provide support to service users throughout their inpatient journey.
