Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer on a permanent basis, located in West Midlands (Hybrid working - Mon/Tue/Thurs office based and Wed/Fri WFH).
Responsibilities:
1. To arrive at a thorough understanding of the Client and Company standards, guides and specifications for engineering works in which the company participates.
2. To fully define by means of schedules, data sheets, calculations, specifications, and reports the Mechanical Engineering scope of works for projects and proposals.
3. To direct the Draughtsmen/women in the production of drawings and other documentation as required and to be responsible for the checking for accuracy, completeness, and fitness thereof.
4. Prepare requisitions to enable the purchase of equipment, materials, and services. Access submitted quotations for technical compliance including fitness for purpose, responding to queries and clarifications as necessary. Make recommendations for acceptance to the purchasing team and check purchase orders and subcontracts for technical correctness.
5. Respond to technical queries raised by vendors, review and approval of design drawings, documents or instructions and, if required, carry out inspections and tests during and on completion of manufacture.
6. To maintain and keep up to date the design information, drawings, and documents, throughout the project stages including identifying and making revisions to requisitions.
7. To attend site or other works to conduct surveys, make investigations, and attend meetings as necessary.
8. Comply with company procedures and work instructions, guide notes, and other information that forms part of the quality assurance, health and safety, and environmental management systems.
9. To identify and properly document all variations to and deviations from the original scope of engineering works.
10. Management of own and sub-ordinates time to agreed targets such that effort is efficiently spent.
11. To communicate fully with the project team members and others on matters relating to the project including checking of others work as required.
12. To assist in the production, tracking, and reporting of the project programme.
13. To assist in site testing and site commissioning work, as required.
14. To contribute to the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
15. To fully participate in the development of procedures and systems for use within the Engineering Department.
16. To comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy.
17. Any other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to time.
Essential Requirements:
1. HNC/D qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent mix of formal education and practical experience.
2. Practical demonstrable experience commensurate to the level of the role within the water/wastewater industry or other relevant sector.
3. IT literate with an ability to use a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft Office.
4. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and integrates well into a team environment.
5. Good interpersonal skills.
6. Professional approach with strong attention to detail.
7. Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
8. Open and honest communicator, able to deal with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
Desirable Requirements:
1. BSc or equivalent in a mechanical biased discipline.
2. Membership of IMechE or other relevant professional body.
