The opportunity is for a dynamic therapist who is keen to develop the existing service in line with current Health Board and national drivers.
There will be opportunities for service improvement, audit, and clinical intervention within this role, which is focused on working with people who have significant functional impairments. This will be through focused time-limited rehabilitation programs and/or planning complex discharges.
The Occupational Therapy team in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda is small but supportive and has links with parallel teams in other community hospitals.
We have access to in-house leadership training and regularly support our Band 7 staff to access Masters level training with support from Welsh Government funding.
We provide a strong CPD network with regular band 7 meetings, clinical supervision, and have recently introduced timetabling to protect time for non-clinical activities.

The successful applicant will have experience in rehabilitative approaches and complex discharge planning. In addition, they will feel confident initiating and leading change and supporting the wider team to do the same.
An ability to develop excellent working relationships and processes with colleagues within the acute and community settings is essential.
Provide leadership to and work within the OT team, providing intervention to people admitted to the medical rehab wards in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda. This will involve coordinating and delivering timely OT assessments and intervention in hospital settings and, on occasion, in people’s homes.
The OT will assess the ability of highly complex individuals to manage daily activities and will liaise with families, carers, and advocates working with Hospital Bed Management and the Discharge Liaison teams and in partnership with Local Authority community care division to facilitate timely discharge from hospital.
The successful applicant will work closely with other teams within the therapies directorate to advise the multidisciplinary team regarding the potential for discharge where environmental or functional issues have been identified and, where appropriate, co-ordinate a short-term rehabilitation programme liaising with community-based teams such as Reablement and Intermediate Care to ensure appropriate follow-up.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
