About the role: This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual qualified in an appropriate discipline to join the College to provide tutorials on key personal social development topics and training on basic digital skills to students within a number of different departments across the College. The primary focus will be training and assessing students aged 16-18 who study full time on level 1 and below courses in different predominately within the directorate of Construction and Building Services. The posts will also involve being a member of the College’s digital skills in the community delivery team and providing basic digital training for adults in the communities across Mansfield and Ashfield. The ideal candidate will be required to co-ordinate assessment activities in groups and one-to-one training. To plan and provide training and assessment to students on College premises to high standards. There is a requirement for an individual who is able to work pro-actively and build positive relationships with students and adult learners and enable them to excel. For the individual to work effectively on an independent basis and also in partnership with other staff when required. To be an effective communicator, problem solver and planner in order to enable students to make swift progress in their learning. The post-holder will not need to be a digital expert but will need to possess an interest in digital technology and able to visualise and be motivated to help students improve their fluency in using digital technology. The post-holder will also not be required to already have an exhaustive grasp of all relevant key tutorial topics but be willing to learn and subsequently train the fundamental principles of each topic. There may also be the requirement to occasionally cover English and maths classes. Key Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Head of Department, co-ordinate and provide a high standard of training on digital skills and personal social development tutorial topics to groups and individual students. To assess students’ competence, knowledge and understanding of digital skills and tutorial topics in line with College standardised expectations. To develop and maximise personal social development tutorial and digital resources for students’ use and ensure they are relevant and enhance their understanding of the vocational subjects they study. To provide students with accurate feedback to enable them to make good progress and excel in their tutorial studies and digital skills. To promote and monitor the attendance, retention and achievement of students and uphold, maintain appropriate standards of their behaviour. To upskill and take up continuous professional development opportunities to improve practice and to maintain and develop technical competence within agreed subject areas.
