GSL Education seeks a compassionate and experienced SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chesterfield. Responsibilities of the SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA): Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged students with SEMH needs. Assist in managing behaviour positively, using de-escalation strategies. Support students with their academic, emotional, and social development. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individual learning plans (IEPs). Create a nurturing and safe learning environment for all pupils. Help students build confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience. Drive between school locations when required (driver essential). Requirements of the SEMH Primary Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA): Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in a school or care setting). A patient, calm, and supportive approach. Strong behaviour management skills and experience using positive reinforcement techniques. Ability to build trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or difficulties. Must be a driver with access to a vehicle (essential for travel between locations). A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare. Understanding of various SEN conditions.
