An opportunity has arisen on the Respiratory wards for Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse. The wards across site care for patients requiring NON Invasive ventilation and Tracheostomy care. We also care for a diverse selection of respiratory conditions including Asthma, ILD, COPD, and TB. We work as part of the multidisciplinary team which includes TB Nurses, COPD Nurses, Sleep Apnoea Nurses, Asthma, ILD, and Lung cancer patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join our team. You will be well supported by senior nurses on the ward. The role will entail deputising for the ward manager, raising and closing incidents reports and investigation SI's, roster management, ward management including health and safety and patient experience, and supporting the daily running of the wards, working closely with the MDT.
Main duties of the job
* To provide support to the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in effectively leading and managing the ward.
* Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse taking the responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff.
* To assess care needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management as required.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.

Salary: £42,939 to £50,697 a year per annum inclusive.
