The Role: We are looking for a dedicated Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality education to students in a PRU setting at KS3 and KS4 levels. In this temp role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students, many of whom may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This role could be made permanent for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver Maths lessons tailored to the varying abilities of students within a PRU setting. Use creative and flexible teaching methods to engage students and support their individual learning needs. Monitor and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback and tailored support to help them achieve their full potential. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages resilience and a growth mindset. Implement behaviour management strategies to support students with SEMH needs effectively. Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the well-being and academic progress of students. Uphold safeguarding and welfare responsibilities in line with school policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria: Experience: At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in a secondary school, PRU, or alternative provision setting, with a strong understanding of the Maths curriculum. Qualifications: A relevant degree in Maths or a related subject, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. Training: Experience in classroom management, behaviour management strategies, and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures in an alternative provision setting. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students facing challenges. To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate: Advanced Teaching Experience: Extensive experience in teaching Maths at GCSE level in PRU or alternative settings, with a proven track record of student progress. Leadership or Coordinator Roles: Experience as a Maths subject lead, intervention coordinator, or involvement in extracurricular activities related to numeracy support. Professional Development: Continued professional development (CPD) in behaviour management, trauma-informed teaching, or SEMH education. Location: This role is based in Derby, within a well-established PRU school.
