The Assistant Accountant will support the delivery of a comprehensive and professional accounting function to companies within Great Places Housing Group.
We are recruiting to two assistant accountants, one will work alongside our new Head of Finance and support our subsidiary companies and one will work alongside our Financial Accounting Team supporting our group accounting and capital accounting functions.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting the production of financial reporting for Great Places group companies including external reporting to stakeholders
Preparing and processing journals in line with reporting timetables including month and year end processes
Preparing, maintaining, updating and reviewing working papers in relation to group companies and external contracts to ensure accuracy and quality
Supporting the Finance Team in reviewing financial processes both within the department and across the wider business
Undertaking quality checks and reconciliations on financial information produced by the finance team
Assisting with financial queries and ad hoc work as required
What you’ll need
Working towards AAT qualification or equivalent
Understanding of how to prepare routine journals and financial working papers
Ability to use initiative to follow up of discrepancies and queries found as part of the role
Be able to work to deadlines to assist colleagues in meeting reporting requirements
Be able to liaise and build relationships with colleagues
Strong IT skills (all Microsoft Office) and proficient in Excel with experience of manipulating and interpreting large volumes of data
