CNC Lathe Programmer/Setter/Operator (Fanuc Controls) Location: Wolverhampton Position Type: Full-Time Department: Precision Machine Shop Job Overview We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Programmer/Setter/Operator with experience in Fanuc controls to join our busy precision machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for machining high-precision parts from exotic materials, primarily in small to medium batch quantities. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes while ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Programming: Develop and modify CNC programs using Fanuc controls based on engineering drawings and specifications. Setup: Set up CNC lathes for production runs, including tool selection, fixture installation, and alignment. Operation: Operate CNC lathes to machine precision parts, ensuring adherence to tolerances and quality standards. Quality Control: Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges to inspect and verify part dimensions and surface finishes. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process, ensuring minimal downtime. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, including setup sheets, inspection reports, and maintenance logs. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure continuous improvement and efficiency in processes. Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC lathe programming, setting, and operation, specifically with Fanuc controls. Education: Relevant technical certification or equivalent experience in machining and manufacturing. Technical Skills: Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation; strong knowledge of CNC programming and setup procedures. Measuring Equipment: Familiarity with using precision measuring tools, including micrometers and verniers, in both metric and imperial systems. Materials Knowledge: Experience working with exotic materials, such as titanium, Inconel, or similar, is highly desirable. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
