The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Company Accountant to join our team. This is a key role within our organisation, ensuring the financial health of the business and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare year-end accounts to audit standard and quarterly management accounts.
2. Manage cash flow and ensure monthly account reconciliations.
3. Oversee financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
4. Support the year-end audit, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely reporting.
5. Ensure monthly cost reports are issued to Surveyors.
6. Organise and produce monthly CVR reports, working alongside Surveyors and Project Managers.
7. Analyse CVR reports, budgets, and forecasts to support financial planning.
8. Handle HMRC enquiries beyond the current team's scope.
9. Ensure compliance with all statutory accounting deadlines (VAT returns, CIS returns, payroll, year-end financial accounts).
10. Maintain compliance with PAYE, SC Tax, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
11. Manage R&D tax claims and HMRC investigations.
12. Attend monthly management meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
13. Assist in insurance and bond management for the company.
14. Provide financial guidance and reports to company directors.
15. Oversee the entire accounting function, evaluating and improving processes where necessary.
16. Handle any other financial matters as required.
Skills & Experience
1. CIMA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
2. Minimum of 5 years experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards and financial controls.
4. Proficient in Excel and Word.
5. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
