Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant with Sports Coaching Background

Are you a sports coach looking to make a difference in an educational setting? Teaching Personnel are seeking a passionate, compassionate, and energetic individual to join the team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. Your experience in coaching and motivating young people will be invaluable in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, adapting teaching methods as needed.
2. Foster positive relationships, encourage motivation, and build self-confidence in students.
3. Use sports coaching techniques to support focus, teamwork, and physical coordination among students.
4. Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
5. Assist in behavior management by employing strategies from your sports coaching experience, creating a calm and focused learning atmosphere.
6. Support students in developing resilience, patience, and perseverance through structured activities and learning exercises.
What You Bring:
1. Communication Skills: As a coach, you're used to giving clear instructions and feedback. These skills will be crucial when working with students who may need extra guidance and encouragement.
2. Adaptability: Experience adapting training to meet various skill levels in sports is easily transferable to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
3. Behavior Management: Your experience in maintaining discipline and focus on the field will help you create a positive, respectful learning environment in the classroom.
4. Patience and Empathy: Working with students with SEN requires understanding, patience, and compassion, qualities honed through working with athletes of all ages and abilities.
5. Teamwork: Just like on the field, teamwork in the classroom is essential. You will work alongside teachers, parents, and other staff to support the needs of each child.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience as a sports coach or sports-related role.
2. An interest in working with children with Special Educational Needs.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage children.
5. An enhanced child DBS on the update service.
