About The Role
National Grid Interconnectors is at the forefront of delivering low carbon electricity between Great Britain and Europe. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Construction Manager on a 12 month FTC to work at our oldest and biggest interconnector in Sellindge, Kent.
You’ll join our IFA Construction Team where you’ll be accountable for delivering the high-profile complex projects within an operational site safely, to quality and to time within budgets.
As a Senior Construction Manager you will develop and deliver solutions to ensure that our interconnector portfolio, with a focus on IFA, is reliable and fit for purpose to deliver green energy for the future.
The role involves managing a multidisciplinary matrixed construction team through the whole project life cycle, from operational and environmental optioneering/option selection, development of design strategies, to being accountable for detailed design, contract award and production of construction delivery Programmes, including governance and procurement activities.

Please note due to the onsite location of this role you will need to be able to drive and must hold a full UK driving licence.
Key Accountabilities
1. Lead cross-functional project teams fostering collaboration and communication.
2. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
3. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their expertise and project requirements, monitoring and adjusting as necessary to meet project demands.
4. Manage project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and cost control.
5. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including O&M teams, Internal functions and suppliers.
7. Facilitate regular meetings to provide project updates and present to senior leadership.
8. Maintain comprehensive project documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
9. Implement processes for continuous improvement and lessons learned.
10. Ensure all project deliverables are completed and formally handed over to the operations team.

5. Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating with stakeholders and vendors to achieve project objectives.
6. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software and tools.
7. Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks effectively.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £66,000 - £80,000 – dependent on capability.
