ABOUT THE ROLE As a Health, Safety and Sustainability Adviser, you will play a critical role in the development, implementation and maintenance of our health, safety and sustainability policies and procedures. You will work closely with various departments and stakeholders across the university to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and standards as well as supporting our sustainable development goals. Key responsibilities include - • Incident Management: Lead first response to incidents, managing them via the ServiceNow Platform. Provide accurate incident data to support informed decision-making and drive continuous improvement. • DSE and High-Risk Travel Oversight: Manage Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessment processes and oversee safety measures for high-risk travel activities. • Cycle-Friendly Employer Initiatives: Coordinate activities that promote sustainable and healthy commuting options. • Audits and Inspections : Conduct low to medium-level audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. • ISO Standards Support: Play a key role in the continual improvement of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems by overseeing documentation, reviewing processes, and ensuring compliance. • Training and Development : Deliver engaging health, safety, and sustainability training to build colleague competency and promote a culture of continuous learning. • Sustainability Programme: Support and contribute to the organisation's sustainability strategy through impactful projects and initiatives. ABOUT YOU To be successful in the role you will be - • Experienced in giving information and advice on health, safety and sustainability-related issues. • Experienced in establishing Health and safety-related policies and setting appropriate standards and monitoring procedures. • Have experience in undertaking safety audits and inspection programmes. • Hold a relevant professional health and safety qualification at a minimum of level 3 e.g. NEBOSH General certificate or equivalent.
