Behaviour Support Assistant
NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting on behalf of a school in Leeds for a behaviour mentor. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated candidate who will support students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, assisting them with day-to-day learning and behavioural challenges, as well as helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. As a behaviour mentor, you will work closely with students who have a range of challenges, providing both academic and emotional support. Your role will include assisting in the classroom, implementing individualised support plans, and providing a safe, positive environment for students to thrive.
Key Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
* Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, providing tailored support to meet their specific SEN needs.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans.
* Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in line with school policies.
* Provide emotional support to students, fostering their confidence and well-being.
* Assist with the delivery of interventions and learning activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
* Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN needs.
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of SEN and strategies for supporting emotional and behavioural development (such as TeamTeach).
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
