Geography is a very popular subject within the school and has an outstanding academic reputation. Girls achieve excellent results at GCSE and A level and pupils regularly choose to continue to study Geography at University. We are seeking a creative, self-motivated and well-qualified Geographer with a passion for the subject to join a dynamic, hard-working and friendly department for a maternity contract.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom teacher, able to inspire others. She/he will have the ability to teach Geography from Year 7 up to Year 13 and beyond. The ideal candidate will be able to teach Physical Geography at A level.
Fieldwork and visits form an integral part of the Geography curriculum at all levels. In the Lower School, fieldwork includes map skills in Hyde Park, a visit to Whitstable, and Kew Gardens. GCSE pupils participate in residential fieldwork at a field centre in Suffolk, and the Sixth Form visit Snowdonia. We also arrange international Geography trips and have recently toured Costa Rica and Iceland.
The successful applicant will play a full part in the co-curricular life of the department and the school, and will take charge of Geography Society, the senior Geography Club.
