SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) - Southampton, Hampshire Are you passionate about supporting young people with Autism and Learning Difficulties? GSL Education are in search of a caring and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Southampton. This full-time role is based on the school's specialist resource base, which provides tailored support for students with Autism and Learning Difficulties. With a competitive salary between £21,000 and £25,000 per year (depending on experience) and starting ASAP or Easter 2025, this position offers a permanent contract after a successful probation period, with opportunities to progress through pay grades as experience grows. Key Responsibilities of SEN TA: Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with Autism and Learning Difficulties. Assist students with their learning, social development, and communication skills. Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver tailored learning interventions. Help manage behaviour and create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment. Support students with everyday tasks, ensuring their well-being and independence. Use alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (if trained, but training can be provided). Requirements of SEN TA: Experience working with children or young people with SEN (Autism, Learning Difficulties, etc.). A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Previous experience in education or a care background with SEN experience is highly desirable. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one). Why GSL Education?
