The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the delivery of a safe, efficient and timely Research Support & Management service for CHFT by promoting and facilitating the delivery of high-quality research activity within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The management of the Trust NIHR portfolio studies and its non-portfolio studies will be a major function of this post. Providing a full and comprehensive capacity and capability assessment of all research, including contracts and costings as part of R&D governance processes. The role will also assist in recording and reporting the Trust's performance in meeting local, regional, and national performance targets as well as offering research expertise to new researchers.
The role will require the post holder to have responsibility for the interrogation of data to provide feasibility reports for scoping potential research projects, develop and provide IT System support for individual research projects and develop databases for the overall management of the research portfolio in the Trust, ensuring accurate data collection and presentation for reporting to many fora.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Essential criteria
* Educated to degree level or equivalent plus training and/or experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
* Ability to analyse and interpret research governance and management information
* Competent with IT packages, particularly MS Office software (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and web-based applications/software
Desirable criteria
* Masters degree
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
Essential criteria
* Experience of working in a research environment (NHS, University or Industry)
* Recent significant experience of working in a governance role in a complex or regulated organisation, preferably within the NHS
* Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects within a team
* Experience of data manipulation, data analysis and the presentation of results to researchers, with the ability to produce data charts and performance reports
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Ability to assess complex sets of documents against research governance requirements, with attention to cross-referencing of details
* Ability to work under pressure balancing conflicting workloads and working to deadlines.
* Excellent proactive organisational and planning skills with confident analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrating being able to work methodically with attention to detail.
* Knowledge of indemnity issues in research. Knowledge of commercial organisations impacting on NHS research Knowledge of research costings and contracts Knowledge of legal, regulatory processes & frameworks for NHS research
Desirable criteria
* Experience of undertaking research monitoring
* An understanding of the monitoring process for research in the NHS. An understanding of performance management of research within the NHS
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training certificate
