Allianz Specialty have a fantastic opportunity for a Product Owner to join our family of talented people in the Transformation Change Team. This is a hybrid role working from our Ditton Park office.
As a Product Owner, you will lead a member of the Scrum team, supporting change throughout the full development process from concept to delivery. You will evaluate all opportunities and prioritise what gets built and delivered through a clear concise backlog.
The Product Owner will support the Business Analysis/Scrum team with epic creation and Business Owners with solution validation, review of epics, user stories, designs, and solutions. You will also support the business validation testing of the developed solution and ensure alignment with the Architecture team.
Key Accountabilities
PI Planning
1. Prepare for the Program Increment planning by reviewing and contributing to the Product vision, roadmap, and content presentations.
2. Actively engage with user story definition, providing clarifications to enable the Scrum team to create their story estimates and sequencing.
3. Work with Scrum team to determine the team PI objectives for the upcoming PI.
4. Act as the customer proxy to define and prioritise stories in the team backlog.
5. Ensure the backlog is appropriately prioritised, visible, clear, and refined ahead of sprint planning.
6. Make decisions on behalf of the business on which user stories are accepted or rejected and in which sprint they will be developed, being mindful of the need for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with the greatest business benefit and some elements that are time-driven.
7. Maintain awareness of wider Portfolios to ensure the backlog accurately reflects support of wider initiatives that may require additional resource support and require priority. This will be achieved via close collaboration with both the Product Manager and other Product Owners.
8. Influence the Scrum team to actively engage with backlog refinement and user story writing and make yourself available to Scrum teams to answer their questions or find answers.
9. Confirm the definition of “Done” as agreed by the Scrum team is in line with your expectations and nothing is obviously missing.
10. Work closely with the Scrum Master to get early feedback on whether the team is on track to deliver to key delivery dates.
11. Align with fellow Product Owners, Business Owners, and Programme Leads to ensure design, build, and test cycles are aligned.
Decision Making
1. Sign off on all development work completed in the sprints, ensuring quality of delivery and fit for purpose in line with the definition of ‘Done’.
2. Be available to the Scrum team, take responsibility for day-to-day decisions in the scrum team, and be able to think clearly on your feet to give quick concise decisions to help the team pivot and change direction rapidly when required.
3. Maintain a knowledge of future change items in a well-defined backlog so that these can be considered by the team when planning future sprints and PIs.
4. Take responsibility to escalate deviations/blockers/dependencies within the domain to ensure company visions are met and delivery plans remain on track.
5. Critical thinking generated by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, and communication.
6. A basic understanding of the Agile methodology with experience using a number of frameworks.
7. Previous experience working in insurance or financial services.
8. Some business knowledge with a wider understanding of the Mid-Corporate business vision.
9. Experience of changing technology and processes.
10. Good communication skills and stakeholder management.
11. Experience of delivering customer-focused outcomes.
12. Ability to work alongside and help energise a cross-functional experienced team.
13. Self-motivated.
14. Not afraid to take a risk-based approach to decision making.
15. A strong team player.
16. Previous Product Owner experience is desirable; however, a good understanding of the role, and what is expected with a willingness to learn is required.
