Are you looking for an Associate Practitioner position with a desire to work as part of the largest NHS led Pathology Services in the UK? You will be based at Wexham Park Hospital.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual with a good scientific background to complement our existing laboratory support team. Previous microbiology laboratory experience is essential.
Essential qualities expected are efficiency, being well organized, having good communication skills and attention to detail. Good keyboard skills are desirable. In addition, you should be a reliable individual who is able to demonstrate good practical skills and work as part of a team. There will be an expectation to help lead the laboratory support team.
It is also expected that you are experienced in Maldi-Tof testing, Antibiotic sensitivity testing and Quality bench work including acceptance testing.
You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills and able to participate in the shift system. Support and encouragement will be given for career development.

• Be able to effectively deal with simple day to day situations and problems, referring to Senior Biomedical Scientist staff when appropriate
• Effectively maintain stock control, place orders and take appropriate action as required
• Ensures sample is appropriate type for all tests and assesses samples for urgency, informing Biomedical Scientist staff of such samples
• Works in cooperation with BMS staff to ensure workload is processed in a timely and efficient manner
• Performs telephone duties that include making and receiving calls from and to the laboratory, verbally transmitting confidential results and conveying sensitive information and advice to healthcare professionals
• To be responsible for own work which will include all aspects of the technical work, equipment and quality system
• To ensure the timely and efficient provision of diagnostics services
• To take day to day responsibility for the quality of technical work produced

Our laboratory is fully accredited with UKAS and HCPC training status. You will be expected to work according to our working time compliant shift system inclusive of early, core, late and weekend shifts and on occasion may be required to work at the Frimley Park Hospital site to maintain quality, training and service requirements.
