Hours
* Full time: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm. Occasional overtime may be required.
About the Role
The Automotive Heavy Vehicle Technical Trainer will be responsible for training apprentices or commercial delegates to the highest standards at a Wolverhampton training centre, enabling them to achieve industry-accredited qualifications.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in heavy vehicle maintenance and a strong understanding of the latest technologies, including electrical diagnostics. While previous training experience is desirable, it is not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate. A recognized qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 or equivalent is required.
Day-to-Day Duties
* Delivering training and education in a safe and effective manner, adhering to health and safety, COSHH, and other regulations.
* Preparing and using training aids as needed.
* Supporting the team in maintaining discipline and ensuring trainees comply with policies.
* Mapping progress, assessing knowledge, and completing awarding body documentation.
* Providing welfare support and guidance to apprentices and their employers.
* Staying current with technological developments and vocational CPD.
* Collaborating with team leaders to improve training and assessment processes.
Essential Skills
* An industry recognised qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 or equivalent.
* Teaching Qualifications such as PTTLS.
* English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent.
* Proven experience with electrical diagnostics and modern automotive technology.
* Strong communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Full UK driving licence for subject specialism.
Desirable Skills
* Recent experience with English and Maths (or willingness to train).
* Experience working with apprentices or young people.
* Assessing or TAQA qualification.
* First Aid certification.
