Widener University is currently seeking 10-month non-tenure/clinical track faculty member for the Institute for Physician Assistant Education. This role reports to the Director of the Institute for Physician Assistant Education. The position is for a candidate who is an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant, eligible for PA Licensure in Pennsylvania, and a minimum 3 or more years (5 years preferred) clinical experience and minimum 3 (5 years preferred) years teaching experience in an institution of higher education. Preference will be given to individuals with a strong clinical and teaching background to teach courses in the didactic year and assist with advancing the clinical courses in the clinical year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :
Essential duties:
Teaching:
1. Develop and teach courses in the PA Program as negotiated with the Program Director
2. Ensure courses and syllabi are current and available to all students
3. Demonstrate competency in teaching as evidenced by supervisor, peer, and student evaluations
4. Demonstration of expertise in areas of teaching responsibility and content delivery method
5. Participate in team and/or interdisciplinary teaching
6. Participate in curriculum development both didactic and clinical
7. Use faculty development opportunities and teacher effectiveness tools to improve teaching
8. Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for students and/or student organizations.
9. Maintain regular office hours; guide or support students who reach out for assistance; identify students who are struggling and need extra attention or support to be successful.
10. Identify students who are struggling and need extra attention or support to be successful through use of email, phone, or other appropriate means of communication; support or guide students who reach out for assistance
Scholarship/Practice:
11. Engage in clinically-based or educationally-based research with a goal to present at conferences.
12. Engage in scholarly/clinical work related to area of interest on a regular basis and as required by expectations of the Program.
13. Maintain currency of clinical and professional knowledge through regular continuing education
Service:
14. Participate in all University, College, and Program faculty meetings as well as academic events as indicated in the faculty handbook
15. Participate in student recruitment and admission activities
16. Serve as an academic advisor and/or mentor for students and/or student organizations
17. Serve as a mentor to new faculty members or adjunct faculty.
18. Serve as a student mentor for community engagement activities.
19. Serve as site visitor for students on clinical rotation as needed.
20. Assist in the accreditation process including preparation of documents for accreditation applications, annual reviews, and site visits
21. Demonstrate the ability to support the mission of Widener University as evidenced by teaching and clinical assignments, advising, and mentoring of students and overseeing community engagement.
22. Participate in professional activities and service to the University, College, community, and the profession.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
23. In-depth knowledge of at least one area of physician assistant practice/scientific knowledgebase.
24. Knowledge of working with an interprofessional healthcare team.
25. Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication abilities.
Preferred:
