Responsible for: The Electrical & Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and controls, allowing correct functionality and compliance with regulatory standards. Job Purpose: The Electrical & Controls Engineers purpose is to provide end-to-end design, programming, and implementation of electrical and control system. This includes creating efficient and safe designs and solutions, ensuring that all systems meet industry standards, and providing technical support during and after the project lifecycle. Key Relationships: External: Customers / Clients, Suppliers and Vendors Internal: Project Management, Design and Engineering Team, Operations Team, incl. Quality, Procurement, and Production Budget Responsibility: No direct budget responsibility but will work closely with the procurement team to manage costs related to electrical components and control systems. Main Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and control panels, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs. Develop and program control systems for the automation of processes. Collaborate with the mechanical engineering team to ensure system integration and compatibility. Verify electrical designs meet performance and safety standards. Troubleshoot and optimise existing electrical and control systems for better performance and reliability. Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical and control systems at customer sites. Ensure compliance with industry regulations Manage electrical BOMs (Bill of Materials) and specifications for procurement. Provide technical support to manufacturing and field teams as needed. Continuously improve electrical and control system designs to enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability. Lead root cause analysis for electrical and control system failures and implement corrective actions. Support the development of electrical design standards and best practices for the engineering department. Key Attributes: Qualifications & Experience: Vocational Qualification or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field. Experience in designing electrical systems and control panels in industrial or heavy equipment manufacturing environments. Proficiency in PLC control systems programming. Familiarity with SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design software. Strong knowledge of electrical standards and safety codes. Effective problem-solving and project management skills. Preferred (not mandatory): Experience with embedded controls and programming. Certification in industrial automation or electrical engineering.
