The shift pattern for this position is 0830-1630 Monday to Sunday.
Glasgow City HSCP is growing its capacity to deliver on the transfer of some care and treatments to more appropriate services away from general practice. This includes the Vaccination Programme which is coordinated at a NHSGGC board level with the HSCP overseeing implementation. The Immunisation and injections team will work in collaboration with Public Health and general practice colleagues and other agencies to address Health Inequalities. The post holder will be a first level NMC Registered Nurse who will support the Team lead and wider team to provide a safe, person centred and effective quality service. The post holder will be expected to provide an accessible, appropriate, high quality, culturally sensitive, safe, person centred and effective immunisation and injection service in the community, by working in partnership with adults, children, young people and families, care providers and other agencies, including Primary Care, General Practice, Residential Care Homes, Education and Public Health. Working in partnership with colleagues, individuals, primary care, the local community, health improvement staff, social work services and other agencies to deliver identified immunisation programmes.
The post holder will:
1. Function as an independent autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to lead and enable the immunisation staff to provide a safe, person centred and effective quality service.
2. Work independently and on a day to day basis without direct supervision and be responsible for delegating and reviewing the work of his/her team.
3. Have clinical supervision and provide clinical supervision to immunisation staff, in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde clinical staff support and supervision processes.
4. Be the clinical expert who will be accountable for safe delivery and to manage and support the immunisation staff.
5. Be responsible for delegation of work to team members.
6. Directly manage team rotas and be responsible for the monitoring of the daily vaccine activities.
7. Monitor the uptake of immunisation programmes and work to ensure uptake is maintained or improved.
8. Work with partners and agencies ensuring reports are completed in a timeous manner.
Skills required include leadership, the delivery of immunisations and injections, highly specialised advice, health promotion and health education, concern/complaint resolution.
