An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Positive Action Engagement Officer to join the Staff Experience Team and support positive action recruitment work within the trust to improve diversity within our workforce.
The post will primarily cover the area of Merseyside with some work in Greater Manchester South.
The positive action programme supports the trust's aim to have an engaged workforce which is representative of the communities we serve. Our positive action approach to recruitment enables us to deliver a range of measures and initiatives to break down barriers which may stand in the way of attracting applications from diverse backgrounds, focusing on black and minority ethnic communities.
This role is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference to local communities, who is passionate about supporting people, and is innovative and creative in engaging with diverse communities.
Main duties of the job
As a Positive Action Engagement Officer, you will be regularly engaging with communities and groups which are currently under-represented in our workforce, and will provide support in bringing their talent, experiences, and expertise to roles within the trust.
The role also involves engaging and building relationships with the voluntary, community and faith sector, and organisations who support individuals into employment to promote the trust as an employer of choice and raise awareness of our career opportunities.
You will attend careers and community events, organise and deliver careers-focused sessions, and explore innovative ways to engage with local communities. Additionally, you will offer information, advice, and guidance and signposting to individuals and groups to improve their chances of obtaining employment within the trust.
This role will involve regular travel across the designated area; however, there will be occasions to support delivery in other areas, and more broadly across the trust footprint.
About us
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
