Role Overview
The People Advisor plays a key role within the P&E team, delivering professional advice services to a designated area and supporting the HR Business Partners across our Schools. This position suits an experienced HR Administrator looking to move into an advisor level role or an experienced Advisor. You will be based at Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts (CSVPA) in the heart of Cambridge City Centre. We offer flexible contract hours; the role can be full or part-time and either full year or Term Time Only.
Main Responsibilities
1. Provide an efficient, effective and customer-focused service supporting all aspects of an employee's relationship and engagement with the business, including recruitment, safeguarding, terms and conditions of employment, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and business policies.
2. Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance while ensuring a good level of understanding of business needs to identify innovative solutions and recommendations.
3. Effectively manage employee relations case work and change management programmes across the wider business, such as investigations, hearings, grievances, absence management, performance and restructures.
4. Champion safeguarding practices across the business, ensuring best practice and regulations are implemented and shared.
5. Contribute to the development and maintenance of our HR Systems – iTrent (payroll) and Jobtrain (recruitment), ensuring data is updated accordingly.
6. Provide support, advice and guidance to line managers and employees in relation to HR policies and procedures, employee relation issues and organisational change.
7. Promote employee engagement by analysing data from engagement surveys and working with schools to implement actions.
8. Champion the completion of good quality annual appraisals and support gaps in learning needs.
9. Ensure central communication is delivered across the business area.
10. Deliver and support the business on a wide range of HR projects.
11. Attend interview and selection events for senior candidates and contribute to decision-making processes.
12. Advise managers on dealing with difficult conversations and improve soft skills.
13. Identify development needs of supervisors and managers.
14. Create and deliver training on best practices.
15. Monitor absence levels and assist with ill health capability.
