JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood are currently looking for an Occupational Health & Hygiene Manager to join our EMEA Operations business. This role can be based anywhere within our EMEA region; however, it would require travel between all key offices. This is an opportunity for the right individual to come in and make their mark in this very important space for Wood as we push to ensure that the physical and mental health of our employees is maintained.
The ideal candidates will come with a technical occupational health background, will have good planning and organisational skills, as well as having a high focus on delivery and a commitment to continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities within the role:
* Manage and support with the routine occupational health medicals required across the Operations EMEA regions in line with health risk assessments and health matrix, including travel health, vaccinations etc.
* Provide proactive advice and support to the business on implementation of the Wood occupational health and hygiene standards and self-assessment tool.
* Support business to assure compliance with the Wood occupational health and hygiene standards.
* Support Operations EMEA business unit to identify OH hazards within their business streams through the development of effective industrial occupational health and hygiene programmes.
* Support the training of Operations EMEA business unit to undertake occupational health and hygiene monitoring where able.
* Support the Operations EMEA business unit to set up service for the collection and analysis of exposure monitoring data obtained in addition to advising on modifications of control measures as needed.
* Assist the Operations EMEA business to develop Health Risk Assessments for all contracts, especially the identification of risks from asbestos, noise, lead, pesticides, ionising radiation, and other communicable disease risks.
* Support the Operations EMEA to design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
* Support the roll out and be focal point for the Ergo-global DSE procedure.
* Support the development and roll out of occupational health and hygiene webinar training programmes for both physical and mental health.
* Undertake a review of the clinical support needs, case management, and other occupational health and hygiene requirements across the Operations EMEA jurisdictions.
* Support occupational health and hygiene audits across Operations EMEA contracts, including any site-based clinics.
* Identify and support the development of a consistent framework for occupational health management for the different Operations EMEA jurisdictions including fitness for task, health surveillance, and case management requirements.
* Monitor ongoing effectiveness of occupational health and hygiene programmes through regular audit of compliance and process.
* Report metrics developed from occupational health and hygiene programmes and communicate to the Operations EMEA business.
* Work with the relevant HR representatives to align and make consistent the occupational health and hygiene care pathways to provide a single consistent approach for injured or ill employees.
* Work with the relevant Recruitment, HR, Logistics, and Skills Pool representatives to ensure all shared processes are regularly reviewed and audited.
* Where applicable, review claims and prepare regular Workers Compensation reports.
* Identify relevant document management control systems to manage sensitive data and governance processes to be used to assure our GDPR.
* Review CAIRS entries for OH incidents, identify trends, and support the development and communication of proactive initiatives.
* Publish any health-related alerts.
* Promote a positive culture that engages the business to continually improve on Occupational Health and Hygiene performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
* Desirable - NMC registered Nurse.
* High level of occupational health and hygiene training.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
* Broad occupational health and hygiene experience across differing industries.
* Good planning and organisational skills.
* High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format.
* Effective/competent IT skills.
* Excellent working knowledge in occupational health and hygiene legislation and regulations.
