Animals 1st Vets have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and dedicated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to take the reins of our nursing team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be based at our Macmerry clinic and work alongside our Practice Manager and Clinical Director. We are based close to main roads and train networks for an easy commute.
We are a busy first opinion practice with a varied and interesting caseload. Our nurses must be able to multitask and meet the challenges of first opinion practice. The successful candidate will be a person with a passion for nursing and a willingness to lead and support a team. This role would suit a friendly, confident team player who can work hard with a smile and a genuine passion for clinical improvement. The role would be perfect for an experienced line manager or a nurse looking to progress in their career.

Rota patterns for you

Ideally, we are looking for someone to work 40 hours a week but are happy to speak to candidates looking for part-time/flexible working hours. The shifts can either be 4 x 10 hour days or shorter shifts across the week ranging from 8am until 7pm. Our nursing team shares the Saturday morning rota 1 in 4 with no out of hour requirement.

We have a well-established surgery in Macmerry, East Lothian, with a loyal and well-established client base. Our practice is equipped with digital radiography, modern ultrasound machines, and full in-house blood testing equipment. We also have good-sized theatres and consult rooms for our varied first opinion cases.
Our friendly team comprises 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Nurses (soon to be qualified), and 3 Receptionists. Our team of Vets and Nurses are passionate about patient-centric care and will always talk through options of care with our clients to ensure they are making the most informed choices. The team has many different interests and we encourage further CPD and certification.
